To start the year on a lighter note, I decided to share with you some anecdotes from the REVIVAL shoot last summer....!
A collection shoot is like a revelation of all the design work done, so it's an important and very intense day, which I want to share with you.
To those of you who are reading this, I hope to take you along with me because it is thanks to you that these crazy days can exist!
Let's go...
"Weather alert or rainy shooting...happy shooting?"
On August 21, 2021 in the Nantes region of France, you expect to be hot, even too hot, especially with a turtleneck under a cape, or a tight dress and opaque tights.... and well no, that day it rained like crazy all morning.
The location was planned to be out, fortunately (...finally) they cancelled it 1 month before the date.... Our shooting was therefore done in a place for which the reservation was made 15 days before the event but sheltered, covered, warm and bright! Phew...
(I'll skip the nail biting to find a venue in the middle of August in France within 15 days ...)
"Some figures concerning the accessories (thanks to my friends and thanks to the bon coin*!)"
. 14 days to find a white feather bolster on the bon coin just for a shoot!
. 18 trunks spotted on the bon coin, 12 negotiated, 1 bought on the bon coin to be picked up at the owner's house.... Damn! it won't fit in the twingo...yes of course it will fit... - 35 minutes later -...Yes! she's in. (Of course she came out... just as easily)
. 72 decorative accessories gleaned from friends, from the bon coin, from facebook market...
* online second hand french market
"Some questions remain unanswered for some".
But what do 6 kg of apples, a teapot, bubbles, a pregnant woman and rabbits have in common?
(I won't say anything if you haven't figured it out yet)
"But how does a 6 hour shoot work?"
In a nutshell it's a sequence of actions:
Unloading props, setting up background music, setting up the catering, setting up the white background, ironing clothes, make-up, hair, shooting clothes "on hangers", laughing fits, preparing the tables, dressing, role-playing, coordinating, checking the video shots, change of board, liking what you see, telling yourself you have a crazy team, dressing, scenarios, fashion show, coordination, checking video shots, looking at your watch, looking at your watch again, making compromises, change of board, dressing, (is there restrooms somewhere? ), looking at the watch (I'll go later), coordination, stimulation, enjoying the moment, thinking "this is it", jumping on the spot while clapping, blowing bubbles, blowing feathers (is there a water bottle somewhere?), changing the music, (oh no, I mustn't drink, I can't stand it anymore), what? One last picture with me on it? (The 3S...sweaty, sticky and shiny... of course!)...
Is it over? Looking at my watch, feeling like crying, all the stress I've been under for months starting to evacuate, feeling like laughing, damn I'm doing both at the same time...tidying up the equipment, cleaning, recharging the truck and the twingo, still feeling like crying, feeling tired but happy, moved by all the people who spent 6 hours with me in this whirlwind...it went by too fast, 6 hours is too short (well come on, a pee-break! and I'm taking my water bottle with me....!)
...love
. You can only say "Whouaaa" when your friends are so beautiful, and so committed to make this shoot a success....
A lot of recognition
. When your team supports you with such fervour and talent! Paskal behind his lens, Val by my side, Emilie behind her brushes and straightening iron, and Jean-mi behind her camera.... THANKS!
Laughter and Infusions
. Spend a long evening with one of your friends inventing paintings and finding coherence between strings, feathers and hooters! Just let it brew.... and the magic happens!
But also... some scares!
. When you unpack your suitcase of clothes from your collection and a black garment has made a stain on the front of the only white dress you had carefully protected! Aaaahhh!
Now you go through all the steps: magic soap, baking soda, nail polish remover, white spirit.... nothing happens.... you wash, rewash.... still nothing... ok, we'll touch it up? yes but no, and there: "Turn a constraint into an opportunity!" says the little voice.
The dress is now a stylish model with an accessory on the front that makes it fall! (and you can't see the stain anymore.... magic of illusion... and especially without photo retouching)
I must admit to a little jealousy
. Alice, 5 months pregnant, 2 kgs weight gain... (oh dear, maybe I planned my pregnant woman adaptation on the Feminity dress too large...!)
"The outcome of this first experience?
. Did it meet my expectations? Better than that!
. List of points to improve for the next one ? Already done!
. Do you believe in yourself ? YES today, no tomorrow, but all this energy galvanizes me!
My last thought?
. I can't wait to do it again!
